Microblading Pre and Post Care.

I’ve booked my appointment! Now what?

Much of the success of any microblading treatment actually lies in the hands of the client. Pre and post care are essential to keep your brows looking beautiful!

It all starts with a great canvas! The eyebrow area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive and non-irritated.

Here are some steps to ensure your skin is ready for the procedure

In order to avoid poor color deposit due to excessive bleeding:

  • Do not drink alcohol or coffee, or energizing drinks 24 - 48 hours before your treatment.

  • Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, or Ibuprofen 24 hours before treatment for pain relief (multi vitamins may contain Niacin)

  • Do not wax or tint your eyebrows 3 days before the procedure.

  • Do not take vitamin C 3 days prior to procedure.

  • Do not work out the day of the procedure.

    One week prior

  • Do not pick/tweeze/wax/perform electrolysis one week before your procedure

  • Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior (natural blood thinners) If you take a multi vitamin ensure you check for these components)

       Two weeks prior to treatment

  • Do not tan or have a sunburned face

       Three weeks prior

  • Do not have any type of facial, chemical peel, microdermabrasion, laser, Botox, other fillers  or any other intense treatments.

Follow these simple instructions and you are halfway to brow perfection!

How do I take care if these beauties?

Don’t worry, it’s easier than you think!

Follow the below aftercare steps to ensure beautiful healing.

Day 1 – Day of treatment - On day one you will need to gently wash your brows 3-5 times (artist will advise based on skin type). This will remove any lymph build up (avoiding scabbing), bacteria and dead skin. Not to worry this will not remove the pigment.

With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the eyebrows with the wash provided. Gently cleanse the area for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away. To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue. DO NOT use any other cleansing products during the first 7 days minimum.

After washing apply a rice grain sized amount of the aftercare ointment provided with clean hands or cotton swab and spread it across the treated area. Be sure not to over-apply as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing.

Day 2-7 – Your week of healing From day two to seven you will only need to wash and moisturize your brows every morning and night using the same method as above. Should any lymph be visable you may cleans your hands thoroughly and dab them with a clean tissue. Most clients find there is no need after day one.

Remember it is imperative to Keep it out of the sun throughout the healing process. Do not apply ANY cosmetics in this area and avoid sweating for at least 10-14 days. Keep the area clean and let it breathe!

What to avoid.

The following are a few more aftercare rules to live by to ensure the best results!

  • Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days. We recommend a fresh pillow case daily for the first 7 days.

  • Avoid Touching of the eyebrow area except for when rinsing and applying the post-care cream with clean hands or a cotton swab.

  • NEVER pick, peel or scratch the micro pigmented area. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away.

  • Avoid facials, botox, chemical treatments /peelings/ microdermabrasion, and creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic Acid on the face for 3 weeks. Any treatment or product meant for exfoliation used on the brow or forehead can cause your brows to fade more rapidly.

  • Avoid activities that cause any increased sweating ie; practicing sports, hot sauna, hot bath or Jacuzzi.

  • Avoid swimming, lakes, hot tubs for the first 10 days

  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after procedure.  Wear a hat when outdoors and always use a natural sun block/screen.

  • Avoid driving in open air vehicles such as convertibles, boats, bicycles or motorcycles for a minimum of 10 days.

  • Avoid performing tasks related to heavy household cleaning such as garage or basement cleaning where there is a lot of airborne debris for a minimum of 10 days.

  • Avoid topical makeup including sunscreen on the area for a minimum of 2 weeks.

  • Drinking alcohol in excess as it may lead to slow healing of wounds.

Important note about showering: Limit your showers to 5 minutes so you do not create too much steam. Keep your face/treated area out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair. Tilt your head backwards and avoid products and water washing over the area. Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.

Ongoing care.

  • Exposure to the sun will continue to be something to be cautious of. Always protect your skin from excessive exposure with a natural sunscreen and/or large sunglasses and a hat. Rinse and dry the area thoroughly when in contact with chlorine.

  • If you are having laser resurfacing or laser hair removal after your tattoo has healed, please inform the laser technician. Continue at your own discretion. Laser procedures may darken, lighten, or discolor the tattooed area.

  • Glycolic acid, chemical peel products, and microdermabrasion should never be applied to microblading.
